The biggest event in Southern Luzon for Industrial Engineering students is happening at the University of the Philippines Los Baños. Presented by the UPLB Industrial Engineering Students’ Organization (UPLB IESO) in cooperation with the UPLB Department of Industrial Engineering (IED) comes the 9th Southern Tagalog Industrial Engineering Seminar (STIES).
Gathering the best speakers in this field from around the country, this year’s theme is PERCEIVE: Industrial Engineer’s Roles in Service Quality Management.
The speakers this year will be Ms. Korina Alvarez Mercado, an HR specialist from Philippine Airlines – Manila Philippines, Ms. Alessandra Abigail Quinto, the Restaurant Systems Manager of Jollibee Food Corps Mang-Inasal Philippines, and Ms. Gianina So-Limjoco, the Operations Director of The Guevent Group of Companies for iMarket.ph.
Quality Management is a vital part of any organization. It ensures that its products, services and the organization itself are consistent, if not improving, in terms of quality. In return to consistency is reliability–one of the goals of an Industrial Engineer for an organization.
STIES is a one-day annual event which aims to provide learning discussions between the three speakers and the audience.Through this seminar, the students will be equipped with knowledge beyond the four corners of a classroom from the first-hand experience of the speakers. Fun activities are also held in which the participating schools can enjoy friendly competition. One of the highlights of the seminar is the STIES Pageant wherein the schools can bet on their contestants to win the crown for Mr. and Ms. STIES 2017.
The event will be held this coming SEPTEMBER 30 and OCTOBER 21 at the University of the Philippines’ D.L. Umali Hall from 8 AM to 5 PM.
The UPLB IESO has organized STIES for eight years in which over twenty universities have participated and is still continuously increasing yearly. This year’s participants include schools from Southern Luzon. Due to last year’s demand, schools from outside CALABARZON have also been invited.
