The Oxford English Dictionary defines “teleserye” as a television soap opera. Coined in the late ’90s, Filipinos used to refer to their beloved television shows as telenovelas or simply soap operas.

In looking for new English words and phrases to include in their list, the Oxford English Dictionary also considers foreign words that are properly used with the English language.

Time to tell your cousins abroad all about that teleserye you’ve been obsessing over, such as On The Wings of Love perhaps?
