Former congressman Teddy Boy Locsin will now be the Philippine representative to the United Nations (UN).

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar confirmed the news, saying, “Cong. Locsin said he accepted the position as UN Ambassador” after meeting at Bahay Pangarap in Malacañang. Locsin is said to release a statement on Tuesday after an overseas trip.

As the ambassador, he will replace Ambassador Lourdes O. Yparraguirre as the head of a diplomatic mission to the UN. He may be assigned to the headquarters in New York City (USA), Geneva (Switzerland), Vienna (Austria), or Nairobi (Kenya).

From 2001 to 2010, Locsin represented Makati City. Today, he hosts a TV show on ANC.
