URCC Tribal Brawl Championships and Philippine BJJ International Open: Two Free Events You Shouldn’t Dare Miss!

 

When in Manila and loving free events, fight fans will be spoiled by the Universal Reality Combat Championship this December and the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation of the Philippines January of next year.

 

First of, the final round of the URCC Tribal Brawl will be held on December 17, 2011, 5 PM, at SM North Edsa Sky Dome. The best amateur fighters from the country will test their mettle against each other one last time for the title of URCC champion.

 Alvin Solinap (red), who had a strong showing in this year’s University Challenge,

is one of the fighters who will be slugging it out in the URCC Tribal Brawl Championships.

 

 

The ten-fight event is free, so it might be prudent to arrive early to get good seats. The full fight card is as follows:

Then, come January 28 and 29, it’s SM Mall of Asia’s turn to host the 2012 Philippine Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi and No Gi International Open at its Music Atrium. I’m personally excited to see the higher belts from Atos, Deftac (Ribeiro), New Breed, Team Fabricio, among others, dance to the symphony of technique and explosiveness in this two-day event.

For BJJ practitioners who wish to join, the last day of registration is on January 25. A registration fee of PhP 950 is required to join either the BJJ Gi (Saturday, January 28) or No Gi (Sunday, January 29) event, while a discounted fee of PhP 1550 is given to those who join both events.
