Tune Hotels Ortigas: The Best Value Hotel For Travelers on a Budget When In Manila

To all my friends and readers who keep asking me about the best, cleanest, safest budget hotel in Manila, here’s my best bet so far! I suggest you check out Tune Hotels Ortigas along Shaw Blvd!

Last year I was able to experience staying in one of the Tune Hotels in Kuala Lumpur however honestly, I didn’t have a satisfying experience as the room was too small and the service simply wasn’t like what we Pinoys provide. This was the reason why it took me a while to finally decide to try out Tune Hotels here in Manila. Good thing I saw another great deal at Agoda.com so I gave it a go. But after experiencing Tune Hotels Ortigas branch…. all my former bad impressions were turned to all praises! And yes, I’m so raving about it now!

My now favorite value hotel!

 

All Tune Hotels pride themselves with providing these 5 statements written above. As a meticulous guest, my aim of course was to see whether these were all met…

Upon arrival, I was greeted by their friendly security guards. I thank them and the whole staff for making our stay feeling safe and comfortable. They were very approachable whenever I needed assistance.

 

Here at the lobby, they have a mini business center where guests can freely check their emails etc.  The hotel also provides wifi which can be purchased as an add-on inside your room making it ideal for business travelers who are on a budget.

 

The reason why Tune Hotels are so affordable is because you only pay for the amenities which you need. You separately pay for add-on such as towels, cable tv, wifi and even aircon services making it more affordable for guests.  For this stay, we got the Cozy Package with 24hr A/C + 24hr TV + 24hr Wifi + Towel & Toiletries by adding only around 400++.

 

You may buy additional toiletries at the counter.

They don’t have their own spa but they do offer on-call spa services at very affordable prices. 

 

 Before going up, I just had to take a photo of their simple yet very minimalist lobby.

 

Security starts in the elevators. Only checked-in guests have access to the elevator to reach their assigned floor. Very much similar with higher class hotels. All you have to do is tap your key card on the code scanner then press the floor you’re assigned to.

 

This is the view when the elevator door opened. The entire floor was super clean! Great job to the Housekeeping Department!

 

To open your room, just place your key card again to be scanned then push the door open!

 

This is the first thing you’ll see upon opening. Simply insert the key card again to activate the electricity. Here, you can also control the aircon’s temperature as well as to activate the “DO NOT DISTURB” sign. Gone are the days of doorknob signs! yey!

 

I immediately fell in love with our room! It may be small unlike the ones we’ve stayed in, but the size was just right plus the ambiance was undoubtedly so comfortable! This is way  better than the one we experienced in KL.

 

Aside from the perfectly working aircon, our room also had a working fan. I remember during our 2nd night, we only used the fan and our room still felt cool!

 

The room also had a safety deposit box for valuables.

 

Even the toilet was way bigger and comfortable as well. I got no complaints about it!

 

It even had a bidet spray!

 

The shower worked well too!

 

and my most favorite of all!! Hoooray for hair dryers! 4 thumbs up! 

 

If you need assistance though, there are no intercoms installed in each room, so you have to go out your room and find the phone near the elevator. It can be a bit frustrating when you don’t get any answer, so I recommend you just go down the front desk to directly address your matter and get quicker action.

One thing which concerned me though, was that there was no available hot water. I didn’t ask the staff,  but it seemed they didn’t have it (I hope I’m wrong). I just thought that travelers would of course be needing this for instant coffee, teas or noodles. Good thing all Tune Hotels are located in strategic places where there is close access to convenience stores so we were able to buy hot water from there. But of course, as a guest who don’t want the hassle of going out the building, I don’t really mind paying extra for a cup of hot water. 

Anyway, the hot water matter was very minor as compared with the highy comfortable stay we experienced. I was able to sleep well and work on my articles during that stay. Frank was also able to recover from his flu by sleeping comfortably. In the 5 great services which Tune Hotels provide, I believe another great thing I love about this brand is the image itself! Tune Hotels have a very good public reputation unlike other value hotels who are only known for #@%$!#%@ (you know what I mean) and offer cheap stuff and services. As you can see in the photos I showed you, there is nothing cheap about Tune Hotels Ortigas. Here, you get your money’s worth and you will really feel satisfied with the comfort and basic stuff you need.  I was so comfortable in our room that I didn’t want to go out! 

Thank God for Tune Hotels! Since I live in Quezon City, I’ll definitely try their branch in Timog soon!
