Thunderbird Resorts and Casinos at Poro Point is more popularly known for their casinos, but it is more than that: it’s also the perfect place to relax and unwind. Though there are many Santorini-like resorts out there, Thunderbird is the place that really looks and feels like Santorini as the property is right beside the open sea. Historically, it’s also a US Military Base, so it is away from the hustle and bustle of the city and other resorts.

Thunderbird Poro Point is very family-friendly. The huge pool is the perfect place to bond with the family or to sunbathe.

A Mediterranean design can be seen all throughout the resort, from the main building to the pool area and even beside the beach.

There is also a viewing deck where you can get a perfect view of the seaside. It is the perfect place for sunrise, sunset and even star gazing.

If you don’t fancy swimming in the pool, you can visit the beach area – a long stretch of white sand where you can swim, kayak, play frisbee and jetski. It is also the perfect area to kick back and just read a book. Just above the beach area is a space for special events like weddings and debuts.

On the other side of the property is the golf course. It is quite far from the hotel, but you can always ask the reception for a ride there or request for a golf cart.

The golf course is unlike anything I’ve seen before. It overlooks the whole 248-hectare property including the beach.

During our visit to the resort, we were able to learn about the future plans and expansion of Thunderbird. Aside from the hotel and casinos, they are also building villas to accommodate more guests and bigger groups. The villas will work hand-in-hand with the recreational area and they will all be available for accommodation by September 2016.

Thunderbird vows to be the best and boost the Local Tourism of La Union. There will be 47 new villas that will bring a total of 200 rooms to the resort to accommodate the resort’s good problem of always being fully booked.

The resort is also building an additional infinity pool by the beach, a clubhouse, a garden pond and a park with jogging paths.

Aside from the ground-breaking, they also opened Deli Pianosa Cafe at the main building where you can buy pastries, wine, cheese and sausages. You have to try their cakes, especially the brazo!

By September, all the additional facilities will be in place and you can enjoy all of it at Thunderbird Poro Point. A vacation at Thunderbird is perfect for your family, friends or special someone. The relaxed and romantic environment will surely be one for the books.
