Sorok Uni Foundation, Inc., a humanitarian organization working for and with the persons affected by leprosy (PALs) in erasing the stigma on our forgotten neighbors, invites all amateur and professional film makers to join Sorok Short Film Festival (SSFF) – a short film competition that aims to raise social awareness on those that have been prejudiced by the society due to their disease, lack of financial capabilities, and disabilities.

SSFF is providing the youth an avenue for the creative exposition of their talents. The foundation is after the perspective of the current generation in reaching out to the unfortunate as seen through their lenses.

The theme revolves around Kapwang Gawa, based on the Tagalog kawang-gawa, meaning charitable works. Kapwang Gawa, a derivative of kawang-gawa, is simply doing open-handed deeds for our needy fellow Filipinos.

Five judges, who are pillars in the film industry, will judge the entries and will determine who will bag the P100,000 grand prize.

So, if you think you have this genius of an idea and are up for the challenge, gather your friends (or crew), start drafting a storyline and capture it in motion picture now, for you might just be the first SSFF grand prize winner.

The awarding ceremony will be on October 25, 2014. Deadline of submission of entries is on September 30, 2014. The venue will be in iAcademy, Senator Gil Puyat, Makati Avenue.

Entry forms can be downloaded here: fb.com/sorokshortfilmfest or sorokuni.org/ssff
