I would have to admit that it has been my dream to visit and experience the world renowned wildlife attractions in Singapore. Fortunately, I was given the opportunity to finally witness its magic a few weeks ago.

Before I show you the highlights, allow me to give you a little background:

For 40 years, Singapore Zoo has been known to have among the most beautiful settings in the world, where animals roam freely in open and natural habitats. Covering 26 hectares, the park is home to over 2,800 animals representing over 300 species.

Singapore Zoo was named Best Leisure Attraction Experience in the 22nd Singapore Tourism Awards in 2008. This accolade is its ninth win since the award category was introduced in 1985.

As Singapore’s premier leisure venue, Singapore Zoo receives over 1.7 million visitors annually. With that, the park will continue to ensure its service quality; product offerings and physical surroundings adhere to world-class standards.

Singapore Zoo continues to contribute to the global conservation effort with its captive breeding programmes of endangered animals. In 2014, the Zoo bred over 100 animals, many of them endangered or threatened in the wild.

What to do:

1. Have a Jungle Breakfast at Ahmeng Restaurant and meet the friendly orangutans!

Here’s a tip: instead of having breakfast in your hotel, I suggest you go to Singapore Zoo early and have breakfast at the famous Ahmeng Restaurant so you and your loved ones can meet and greet the resident super cute and cuddly orangutans.

2. Visit Inuka the Polar Bear at the Frozen Tundra

Here’s something you never should miss when at Singapore Zoo. Both kids and kids at heart will surely go crazy once they see this massive live polar bear named Inuka.

Built to resemble the arctic habitat, the Frozen Tundra has a cool temperature, an ice cave with a waterfall, and a large pool filled with giant ice blocks.

Inuka, their  locally-born polar bear, is the star of the Frozen Tundra. From the viewing gallery in the frozen tunnel, check out how the playful Inuka swim in the cool pool, or even chill in the ice-cold cave!

3. Watch the Elephants of Asia

Their Elephant show was definitely one of the highlights of our visit. Who would ever think that these  giants would be so gentle and witty? It was so delightful to watch them with their trainers for you can truly feel the special bond and respect they have for each other. I wish we had this in Manila as well. Inspiring indeed.
