Saint Jude Catholic School Mr. and Ms. United Nations 2014: Many Cultures, One Heart, One World
The student population of Saint Jude Catholic School comprises mostly of Chinese-Filipino students who recognize and/ or embody two different cultures. With both Chinese and Filipino customs at play, the entire community learned to live in an open-minded and accepting world. True to this nature, SJCS aims to extend its reach and help everyone recognize the many cultures of the world by holding “Mr. and Ms. UN 2014”, with the theme “Many Cultures, One Heart, One World”.
Flaunting their exquisiteness and intelligence, 56 candidates aspire to help SJCS in this endeavor. Each class from Grade 7 to 4th year High School selected a pair to represent a country assigned to them. These candidates have gone through several stages of the competition, putting their personalities and talents to test.
A photo shoot was held on Sept. 4 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, a social media survey was conducted to find out who among the candidates have beauty and charisma, traits that the winners need to have. Proving that they are not only beautiful but gifted as well, the candidates showcased their talents last Sept. 11 and wowed the crowd with singing, dancing and acting performances. Aside from these, the candidates also became ambassadors of benevolence in collecting book donations to be given to selected public schools. Judenites wholeheartedly participated in this event, subsequently supporting their candidates and helping those in need of books.
The candidates will battle it out until the coronation night on November 7, 2014. The winners will get the famed title of Mr. and Ms. UN 2014.
