Before the 2017 South East Asia Games takes off in Malaysia next year, the Philippine’s Rugby team is doing their best to prepare for another gold medal.
According to reports, the Philippine Volcanoes made a splendid finish in the 2016 Asia Rugby tournament held in India and Dubai, finishing second overall and bagging the silver medal.
The Volcanoes toppled rivals from Thailand, UAE, Lebanon, India, Syria, Iran and Nepal.
Sean Celeda Lynch and Jonico Ater Hardwick were some notable players in the tournament, both crossing the line 14 and 15 tries, respectively –  reportedly the highest of any national team.
Next month, they will participate in the South East Asia Sevens in Singapore, where they will have a rematch against Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand while defending their spot as number one in South East Asia.
Reports also say that The Volcanoes are hoping to use these tournaments as springboard for a successful stint in the SEA Games, where they won gold last year.
