“Poblacion Girl” Pleads Guilty for Breaching COVID Protocols

Gwyneth Anne Chua pleaded guilty before the Makati City metropolitan trial court on Monday, September 5, to skipping quarantine protocols upon her arrival from the United States in December last year.

Chua, who was also dubbed as “Poblacion girl”, was ordered by Assistant Makati Prosecutor Rafael Esguerra to pay a P20,000 fine for violating Republic Act No. 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.

According to Esguerra, “she apologized for the hassle she caused.”

It can be recalled that Chua arrived in the Philippines from the US in December 2021. However, she left her isolation room to meet with her friends and party in Poblacion, Makati. The woman later tested positive for the coronavirus disease, reportedly infecting 15 people.
