“Pilipinas Got Talent” 2010 Grand Winner Jovit Baldivino Passes Away

Jovit Baldivino has reportedly passed away today, Friday (December 9). The singer rose to fame as the first grand winner of ABS-CBN’s “Pilipinas Got Talent” in 2010.

This news was confirmed by Jovit’s father. “He passed away around 4 a.m. after six days of confinement due to stroke complications, “ Hilario Baldivino told ABS-CBN News. “Masakit sa loob namin pero kailangang ipasa-Diyos namin ito,” he continued. “Mahal na mahal ko anak ko pero mayron din tayong Panginoon kaya kailangan tanggapin natin.”

We recall that Jovit’s performance of “Faithfully” by Journey became a YouTube hit. He also mentioned that he joined the nationwide talent-reality show to help his family financially, and his father overcome his tuberculosis at the time.

Jovit turned 29 last October 16. He then had a mild stroke on November 22. “May enlarged heart siya at namanas,” the father added. Apparently, his son was treated for five days in a hospital in Batangas and recovered at their family home in Rosario.

Last weekend, Jovit was even invited to perform at a Christmas party in Batangas City. However, he suffered another stroke. Hilario recalled, “three songs lang kanta niya. Pagkatapos nakita na siya nakaupo, nakangiwi ang nguso. Nadala agad siya sa ospital, nakalakad mula ambulansya.”

“Nasabi pa niya na lalaban siya dahil gusto niyang mabuhay, pero na-comatose na siya pagkatapos ng operasyon.”

The Baldivino family also lost Jovit’s younger sibling during the pandemic. “Marami siyang pinasaya, at alam din namin mahal siya at kami ng mga tao kaya masakit man, nagpapasalamat pa rin kami sa Diyos dahil yan ang tinadhana niya sa aming pamilya,” he concluded in a hopeful note.

Rest in peace, Jovit Baldivino.
