LOOK: Mothers and Wives Can Now Join The Miss Philippines Pageant

The Miss Philippines is now opening its doors to mothers and wives! After announcing its decision to ditch the swimsuit competition, the organization continued to reinvent pageantry by allowing candidates who have children and are married to participate.

On Instagram, it wrote, “Single, married, or a mother— you are a Queen. And you are welcome to join The Miss Philippines! You don’t have to give up your dreams of joining a pageant yet because we believe that mothers and married women can be as effective as single women at being influencers and advocates of Philippine Culture and Heritage.”

Interested applicants must be female, of Filipino heritage, and aged between 18 and 32. There’s no minimum height requirement mentioned. The screening is ongoing until September 9, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Enderun Coworking Estancia in Pasig City.

On August 28, The Miss Philippines announced that instead of a swimsuit competition, it will have a “red carpet moment” similar to the Cannes Film Festival. The organization also revealed that the candidates will deliver Ted Talk-type speeches, where they are expected to put an emphasis on how they can promote the Philippines to the world.

Meanwhile, for the evening gown competition, The Miss Philippines said it will have a “major glam red carpet moment,” allowing candidates to wear what they want in order to show the best version of their formal wear, including their personality.

The pageant will be held in October 2023, but the date for the coronation night has yet to be announced. Winners of The Miss Philippines will compete at the Miss Supranational or Miss Charm.
