A few years back, famed musical producer Cameron Mackintosh embarked on a worldwide search for the new Miss Saigon, hoping for history to repeat itself just like the day they discovered Lea Salonga more than two decades ago. The 2014 revival of the well-loved musical enjoyed a massive comeback success in its original home on West End, and saw the rise of more Filipino talents such as Rachelle Ann Go, Francheska Farr, Julia Abueva, as well as Filipino-American actress Eva Noblezada as Kim!

Now, the phenomenon will be brought to another globally popular stage: New York’s Broadway!!!

According to Trevor Jackson, Head of Casting for Cameron Mackintosh:

“Since casting for Miss Saigon began in the mid 1980’s the Philippines has been integral to the show as a place to find exceptional Asian performers of World Class ability. Our teams have been returning regularly ever since. Filipino artists are the heart and soul of this show.”

Miss Saigon is the musical that launched Lea Salonga into worldwide fame as a critically acclaimed theater performer, landing an Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 1989, a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical and a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical, both in 1991. Last year, Jon Jon Briones received a nomination for Best Actor in a Musical at the Olivier Awards.
