The Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines is looking for talented Filipino singers and dancers to compete in the 2014 K-Pop Star on August 23 at the Adamson University Theater.

The event is comprised of two separate competitions from Korea, namely the 2014 KPOP World Festival in Changwon, as well as the 2014 KPOP Festival in Incheon.

Organized by the Visit Korea Committee (VKC), the 2014 KPOP Festival in Incheon is launched in association with the Incheon Asian Games 2014, as well as for the purpose of expanding the base of the Korean Culture and raising awareness of Korea as a desirable tourist destination.

KCC is inviting singers and cover dance groups, with applicants and members aged 18 and above to submit their audition videos to KCC (for the singing category) and KPOP Festival’s official website (Cover Dance Group category) August 10. Announcement of the finalists will be made on August 12.

The winners will compete in Korea.

In 2011, Karla Carreon won the first-ever K-Pop World Competition, both the Philippine and the Global leg.

In 2012, the cover dance group Boys on Fire placed fourth in the KPOP Dance Cover Contest held in Korea.

The Visit Korea Committee has been holding the K-Pop Festival for four consecutive years, in collaboration with the local governments. For the 2014 leg, VKC is partnering with the Incheon Metropolitan City which will play host to the 2014 Asian Games.
