Jay Z Is The First Rapper To Be Inducted Into Songwriters Hall of Fame

Hip-hop icon and Beyonce’s bae Jay Z is the first rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, joining a class of recipients that include Motown Records founder Berry Gordy and R&B crooner Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, according to entertainment reports!

The new dad-to-be has sold more than 100 million records in his rap career since his debut “Reasonable Doubt” in 1996, is a 21-time Grammy winner, and is president of Def Jam Records.

The Songwriters Hall of Fame said in a statement:

Also a powerful entrepreneur across the music/entertainment, fashion and sports industries, Jay Z personifies the ‘American Dream’

Jay-Z will be inducted into the Hall on June 15 in New York along with musical icons such as Gordy, Edmonds, three members of the band Chicago — Robert Lamm, James Pankow and Peter Cetera, songwriting-production duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and Max Martin, who has written numerous hits for artists such as the Backstreet Boys, Katy Perry, and The Weeknd.
