June 21 was declared as the International Day of Yoga by India’s Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi on September 27, 2014, during his address to the UN General. Yoga is a 5000-year legacy from India which now belongs to the world. It has a universal message of integrating mind, body, and soul, and creating harmony between mankind and nature. It is part of the holistic process of health and well-being. Judging from the proliferation of Yoga studios in the Philippines, one can see that Yoga is indeed catching up in the Philippines as well.

For 2017, the Embassy of India is hosting the 3rd Celebration of International Day of Yoga in Manila, on 17th June 2017, at the Music Hall, SM Mall of Asia, the official venue partner for the event. Guests will experience an enriching cultural experience through interactive yoga demonstrations by well-known yoga studios in the Philippines such as Urban Ashram Yoga, Yoga Plus, Science Identity Foundation, Beyond Yoga, Aquanimous Yoga, and The Art of Living Foundation. With each studio promising to demonstrate a unique type of yoga, it becomes an afternoon not only for avid practitioners but an experience to share and enjoy with family and friends.

Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite yoga mats, their selves in comfortable attire, and H2O for refreshments.
