INSPIRING: 16-Year-Old Runner gets Scholarship Offer from Universities

To many of us, running is simply a pastime or exercise, but for this 16-year-old, it’s a gateway to opportunities.

According to reports, Mia Meagey Niñura, a 16-year-old athlete from Davao City, won gold medal in the secondary girls 3,000-meter event in the Palarong Pambansa 2016 in Albay.

She finished the track in 10 minutes and three seconds, breaking last year’s record of 10 minutes and six seconds. It’s also her first gold win after six tries in the competition.

Because of her stellar performance, she’s reportedly getting scholarship offers from Two American Universities: The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of Southern California (USC).

She also bagged her second gold medal in the 1,500 meter run last Thursday. It just goes to show that hard work and not giving up goes a long way.  A bright future is up ahead for this 16-year-old.
