I Am Hope 2017: The Great Outdoors is the flagship external advocacy project of Kythe-Ateneo, the student arm of Kythe Foundation Inc., a non-stock non-profit organization that hopes to empower hospitalized pediatric patients with chronic illnesses through the Child Life Program.

The Child Life Program aspires to help children cope with the challenge of hospitalization. Through various interactions and efforts focused on stress alleviation, the program helps the children foster their own growth and development.

I Am Hope serves as one of Kythe-Ateneo’s initiatives to involve potential advocates in its mission to raise awareness and understanding of the Child Life Program. The project aims to invoke hope and empowerment to pediatric patients and their families.

Now on its 9th year, I Am Hope: The Great Outdoors puts emphasis on bringing the wonders of nature to our kids. It celebrates the strengths of these brave kids who, despite the daily struggles they go through, are still able to go on their very own outdoor adventure.

This year’s I Am Hope envisions a day where children can explore learning and happiness and make beautiful memories with one another. Through a day-long fair filled with fun games, numerous activities, and exciting performances for the children, it hopes to be able to provide the kids the opportunity to experience the reality of hope that is present in each and every one of them.

I Am Hope will be on the 22nd of April, from 11 am to 4 pm, at the UP National Science Complex Amphitheatre. We will be inviting sixty children, along with their parents and guardians and gather around four hundred volunteers, both from Kythe-Ateneo and partner organizations. As an external advocacy effort, I Am Hope encourages the participation of several non-government organizations and partner university organizations, not only to expand the advocacy but also to gather more advocates.
