80-Year-Old Man Takes Homeless Dogs On Train Rides Every Morning

Eugene Bostick, a lively 80-year-old man from Fort Worth, Texas has retired for over 15 years already, although probably one of his most inspirational work began as he was at his golden years. Before, he did not have plans devoting his older years to helping needy animals. But now, it is a duty he has entrusted himself with in place of the heartlessness of other people. Today, his new “career path”  is a train conductor for rescued stray dogs.

“We live down on a dead-end street, where me and my brother have a horse barn,” Bostick reportedly told The Dodo. “People sometimes come by and dump dogs out here, leaving them to starve. So, we started feeding them, letting them in, taking them to the vet to get them spayed and neutered. We made a place for them to live.”

Bostick has already taken in numerous homeless dogs abandoned by previous owners. Not only has he kept them safe, but he’s also built a fun and enjoyable way of keeping them happy as well.  Even if the rescued dogs have a big space to play in at Bostick’s farm, he thought it would be nice for them to experience trips to other places as well.

Every once or twice a week, Bostick and the nine rescued dogs he currently cares for can be seen riding down through the streets in the custom doggy train, around the town or through the forest that is near their home or stopping by a local creek. It’s something the formerly unloved dogs have come to relish in their happy new lives.

“Whenever they hear me hooking the tractor up to it, man, they get so excited,” said Bostick. “They all come running and jump in on their own. They’re ready to go.”

For Bostick, his top priority is bringing joy to the dogs he rescues since they have been through so much before they became a playful and happy passenger aboard the train.

“I’m getting up in age. I’m 80 now, so I suppose it can’t last too much longer, but I’ll keep it going as long as I can,” Bostick shares. “The dogs have a great time. They just really enjoy it.”

All aboard! This is the cutest train ever!
