Yes, being the huge geek fanboy that I am, I nearly peed in my pants

We only had a short half day stopover from our flight from Manila to Nepal and we knew EXACTLY what we were going to do with that layover in Malaysia.

It’s quite easy to find in Malaysia. Just head over to the capital, Kuala Lumpur, in the Bukit Bintang area at the Pavilion Mall.

I seriously felt like a little kid with a huge grin on my face walking around the DC Store in Malaysia. It started out as one of the happiest days I’ve had in a while!

Even the dressing rooms were cool! Each one had a super hero theme, so if you went into the Batman dressing room, inside you’ll find all Batman comic book covers as your wallpaper!

The shirt I got, asking “What Would Batman Do?”

I have to admit, the stuff there is really really pricey though. One regular priced shirt that I got was around 179 Malaysian Ringgit which is roughly $60 US Dollars or roughly P2500 Philippine Pesos. Cool Jackets were up there and the ones we saw ranged from around $300-$600 US Dollars.

The complete buzzkill there though is the DC Comics Store staff. Most of them seemed like they hated working there and they just seemed really grumpy. The only time they approached me was to say I wasn’t allowed to take pictures… really?!?! No pictures in the mall?!?! WTF?! I bet Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen wouldn’t stand for that lame rule! Not to mention the really bad customer service they had.

Now this part is a bit complicated so try to keep up…. they had a promo that said you get a free shirt if you spend 180 Ringgit. No biggy really but I though it would be cool since these shirts cost like an arm and a leg. Either way I bought two items, first costs 179 Ringgit and the other was 88 Ringgit. So total of 267 Ringgit, so well over the 180 free shirt thingy. Meaning, FREE SHIRT BONUS… right?!? WRONG!

Apparently, we were told that the fine print on the promo says that the this deal only applies for regular priced items. They said my first shirt, at 179 was at the regular price but my second shirt at 88 was at a discounted price. WTF right?!?! So no biggy, I say that I’ll just add another regular priced item, to which the cashier then says that she can’t combine receipts. I know, WTF again?!?! At which point I ask why she didn’t just say so in the first place and advise us to pick up another item worth 1 Ringgit! So I ask for the manager, and this non-smiling person (that was really my impression of her, no smiles ever) comes by and I explain the whole situation, to which she says that’s just the company policy. So I ask if they can just cancel the last purchase and then re-purchase it all and just add an item then be on our way… the non-smiling manager then points to a sign that says “No Returns” ….

Damn DC Comics Store! Is Lex Luthor running this place?!

It just really ruined the whole experience for me. I wish they were a bit nicer or something. The freebie wasn’t really that important but it was more of their whole lame reasoning, principle and the horrible customer service experience.

Also, the pics I have are kinda limited as they stopped me from taking more pictures. Again, don’t really understand why they have that rule or how that helps their brand especially with the social media of today.

When In Manila, I’m still a big fan of DC Comics, with Batman, Superman and all of them, so I’m sure I might still drop by again next time I’m there in Malaysia, but this time I really won’t expect much from the staff or the brand.
