Get ready to break free from the HIV stigma one song at a time!
For countless years, individuals diagnosed with HIV/AIDS had to live through a society where ubiquitous undercurrents of stigma, discrimination, and fear were nothing out of the norm. The bad image and rigid opinions imposed on these people induced by illiteracy strongly usher the need to finally address the issue by fighting the fear with facts. Through Break Free: A Benefit Concert, let us familiarize ourselves with all there is to know about HIV/AIDS, and together, break free from the stigma.
All proceeds from the concert will be given to the partner organization, Gabay sa Pulang Laso Inc. It is a non-profit, community-based organization in the Philippines that seeks to render comprehensive and sustainable psychosocial support and spiritual guidance to People Living With HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), a virus that attacks the body’s immune system and if left untreated, can lead to AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome). This sexually transmitted infection (STI) attacks the body’s immune system and interferes with the body’s ability to fight infection and disease.
Break Free: A Benefit Concert will be live-streamed via a private Facebook group on June 17, 2022, at 4 PM. Ticket selling will begin on the 3rd of June 2022, with a budget-friendly price of ₱60.00. The virtual concert will feature eight remarkable local artists, namely Lucas Miguel, tome., Ice G., Geiko, John Arcenas, DN$TY, yung masa, Jenzen Guino, Anne Tenorio of CALISTA, Paolo Sandejas, and a very special performance of an original song about HIV by two De La Salle University students, Samantha Bersaldo and Don Matta.
