If you live east of Metro Manila, or you’ve driven to Marikina to discover the latest food haunts in the growing dining district, you may have heard of Beeffalo, the rustic homestyle restaurant serving juicy ribs and steaks that offer serious bang for your buck. Loyal patrons have been coming back for their delicious yet affordable dishes, and the bright and warm atmosphere that’s perfect for family dinners.
Beeffalo was first opened in 2013 by couple Louie and Alma Marie Abad, with long-time partner Caren Diaz. The three formerly owned Hotrocks in Libis, with a similar concept of serving affordable steaks.
Going against the grain of opening in populated commercial areas, the restaurant opened its doors towards the end of Mayor Gil Fernando Avenue back when no other establishments were perched on its roadside, its bright lights welcoming you at the end of a long drive.

Now, Marikina’s most-loved ribs have set up another branch in another neighborhood, this time in Addition Hills, San Juan, offering their menu to a new set of diners who will soon be flocking to this joint.
Beeffalo’s San Juan branch still possesses the same charm of the original Marikina location — the restaurant has the same homey vibe, with various American-themed trinkets and decor adorning its walls, from old theater and Hollywood signs, to Western-style signboards and vintage license plates.
More importantly, Beeffalo in San Juan carries the classic favorites its Marikina customers have always loved — the ribs. “Everything grilled on the menu is a must-try”, Gabie, Louie and Alma’s son shares.
Here are just some of the dishes we highly recommend getting at Beeffalo:
Fully Loaded Nachos
This is highly recommended, especially if you’re dining with a large group. Ground beef, salsa, and cheese are generously topped on a huge bed of nachos.
Beeffalo Wings with bleu cheese dip
The great thing about the Beeffalo Wings is that they come in two flavors: Original Buffalo Style, and Sweet. You can choose one flavor, or have them each in one serving.
Taco BBQ salad
Hate salad? This Taco BBQ salad might change your mind.
Porterhouse Steak
The Porterhouse Steak at Beeffalo offers great value for money — at less than P700, you already get a huge, juicy serving of steak, with vegetables and mashed potato on the side.
Baby Back Ribs
Ribs are the star at Beeffalo, and once you see this beautiful plate land on your table, it’s easy to see why. The ribs are absolutely tender and will fall off the bone even with gentle prodding from a fork. And of course, the flavor is present with every mouthful of meat.
Jack Daniel’s Country Style Pork Ribs
Another great alternative to the baby back ribs, Jack Daniels is infused in the ribs’ marinade, giving it an interesting touch in flavor. And oh, that sauce.
Beeffalo Burger
With a juicy patty, bacon, cheese and greens, it’ll be a sure hit among burger lovers.

It’s a burger given a breakfast twist.
Brazo de Mercedes
Save some room for dessert, especially for Beeffalo’s Brazo de Mercedes. The roll is an unbelievably soft, pillowy delight with every slice, and the custard inside is sweet and heavenly, without being too cloying.

Every dish is lovingly prepared, like something you’d expect on Sunday dinner at home with the family. What I love about Beeffalo is that the place is absolutely perfect for family gatherings, or even just sharing a meal with your friends.
