When In Manila, and you want to go surfing in the Philippines, one of the best places to go is La Union. When in La Union, and you want some good food, one of the best places to go is the Surfers Retreat Restaurant.
Surfer’s Retreat Restaurant is located right in front of the San Juan Surf Resort and the Billabong Surf School in San Juan, La Union. About five hours north of Manila, Philippines.

To get to the Surfer’s Retreat Restaurant, you literally just have to cross the street if you’re staying at the San Juan Surf Resort (directions here).
It’s a very cozy little place that’l definitely give you a surfing, beach, relaxing feeling. The home-cooking also add to the ambiance and the “surfers’ retreat” type aura of the place. Even more good news is that the affordable food here totally goes with the beach bum budget.
Their best seller, and my personal favorite is the Blue Marlin Steak dish. It’s a fresh Blue Marlin fish with a sweet type of BBQ sauce with rice and vegetables. Definitely hits the spot after a long day of surf and sun.
So next time, When In Manila, drive out to La Union to catch some waves, then head over to Angel & Marie’s Surfer’s Retreat Restaurant and try their Blue Marlin Steak.

Helloooooo, L.U.! I’m going there this weekend!! I fell in ♥ with L.U. and its awesome waves. The waves are so tall that when it hit the sea wall of my aunt’s house it got washed away. Literally.(Typhoon Pepeng, yow.)
