The Supreme Court has issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) on the curfew implementation in Manila, Quezon City and Navotas.
This is as the court deliberates on the case filed by the Samahan ng Progresibong Kabataan (SPARK), who argued that the curfew was “unconstitutional” as it went against the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Law. Under the law, authorities are not allowed to impose penalties on minors who violate the curfew ordinance, and that they will be brought to their residence instead or to the barangay hall under the eye of any official, before they are released to their parents or guardian.
The group also added that the ordinance hinder legitimate activities done during curfew hours.
