Stock Market Quiz Night 2014: Are You Ready?
In an effort to address the need to promote financial literacy locally, Synersign Corporation—an innovative design company joins hands with Finance Manila along with a number of the Philippines’ leading institutions to present the biggest and most rewarding stock market showdown to start the new year. The event will take place on the evening of February 7, 2014 at the Main Lounge of the Manila Polo Club, McKinley Rd, Makati City, one of the oldest and most prestigious exclusive clubs in the country.
Aimed at promoting knowledge in the financial markets, the event will be co-presented by Finance Manila, the premier stocks and shares website in the Philippines, and a wholly owned subsidiary of global force, ADVFN plc. Stock Market Quiz Night 2014 creatively welcomes participants from different backgrounds to try out their knowledge in finance by way of a trivia night. An interesting take apart from the typical school setting, participants are teamed in groups of 5 or 10 to discuss among themselves questions and to come up with a collective answer.
Points vary based on difficulty. Winning team wins the grand prize of P100, 000 net.
“The idea is to create an avenue wherein both the non-finance and industry people can interact and learn from each other” says Charmaine Cobankiat, head of marketing for Stock Market Quiz Night. “Coming from the finance industry myself, there is still a lot that can be learned. It requires a balance of knowledge and application; it is a living creature, always changing based on circumstances.”
The event also does not end here she says. “This event is somewhat similar with going through a refresher course.
There is a little bit of something for everyone. Best part is: it does not end once the night does. You learn, interact, and grow. The goal is to connect our participants with our partnering groups. We have finance educators, groups and institutions. We believe that learning is at its best through interaction.”
Interestingly, the company envisions rebranding the finance industry starting from this event. “I noticed that a number of people are intimidated when it comes to financial markets, well it is not easy to grasp certain terminologies and concepts without any idea to begin with. Some even call it boring. This was the reason why we created Stock Market Quiz Night. We wanted to break that stereotypical barrier by creating a venue where friends can hangout, learn and simply enjoy the night.”
