Mitch Albom fans, we have sad news for you. The author has postponed his Manila visit due to the 2019 novel coronavirus scare.

In a statement, National Book Store said, “We are grateful for the excitement shown by Filipino readers for the Mitch Albom book signing events in Manila. Unfortunately, due to the recent developments with the 2019 novel coronavirus in the country, the book signing events originally scheduled for February 15 and 16, 2020 are postponed for the safety of everyone involved.”

Mitch has also spoken about the issue, saying, “I plan to honor my promise to visit the Philippines as soon as possible.”

It has been nearly 6 years since Mitch Albom last visited the Philippines. He did a book tour in 2014 and also donated boats to the fishermen who were affected by the typhoon Yolanda during the time he was here.

He recently launched his new memoir titled Finding Chika, which tells the story of a girl named Chika Jeune. The author met her at the Have Faith Haiti Mission and Orphanage in Port-au-Prince, which Albom directs and visits regularly, and whose short life had changed Albom’s world completely.
