This celebrity couple has been talking for months about the small wedding they were planning to have in the south of France. They had their wedding party ready and envisioned a quaint, intimate summer wedding. So it came as a surprise for everyone when Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner opted into an impromptu wedding in Las Vegas just a few hours ago.

There was a surprise ceremony held after the Billboard Music Awards 2019 on May 2. The entire thing was live-streamed by music producer and DJ, Diplo on his Instagram account. It was presided over by an Elvis impersonator while music duo Dan + Shay performed their song “Speechless.”

Joe’s sister-in-law, Priyanka Chopra, served as Sophie’s maid of honor for the ceremony. Their guests were made up of friends, family, and fellow Billboard Music Awards attendees. The couple is said to have jumped into their hotel’s jacuzzi promptly after the ceremony in celebration — wedding outfits and all.

It is unclear as of yet if this means their “official” wedding will be called off or if the ceremony will still take place in a few months time, for those who weren’t lucky enough to be in Las Vegas.
