Son ye jin crash landing on you

Son Ye-jin from Crash Landing on You is helping fight the coronavirus outbreak in South Korea by donating W100 million, roughly the equivalent of P4.2 million.

Soompi revealed that the actress made the donation to Daegu, where she is from. The city has 134 coronavirus cases out of the national number of 1,146.

According to Son Ye-jin, “[It’s] where I was born and raised, as well as the place where my parents live now. So it is a particularly special place for me, and the news of [the COVID-19 outbreak] in Daegu was especially heartbreaking for me. I hope that my donation can provide some sort of practical help to lower-income residents who desperately need help now more than ever, as well as aid in the treatment and prevention of COVID-19.”

Her donation will be used to get medical supplies needed to prevent the spread of the virus.

Other Korean stars have also contributed, such as Lee Young-ae, Kim Go-eun, and Park Seo-joon. Park Seo-joon also donated the same amount as Son Ye-jin.

Travel ban to South Korea

Just yesterday, presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo announced that there will be a temporary travel ban for Filipino travelers going to South Korea, including Jeju Island.

According to the spokesman, it is “effective immediately.”

There are some exemptions, though. Workers, students, and permanent residents of South Korea who sign a written declaration signifying their knowledge of the “risks” of traveling there are allowed to go.

Meanwhile, travelers coming from the North Gyeongsang province are barred from entering the Philippines. Those coming from outside the province are allowed to enter.

He added that the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases shall conduct a risk assessment within 48 hours to check if it needs to be expanded.
