According to a post on UP Diliman’s official website, Sogo chairman Ignacio B. Gimenez said, “(the donation was done) because we know that there are a lot of people exercising here. A few of us [from the Sogo group] are from UP. It was something that we really wanted and we’re happy na natuloy.” Gimenez is a graduate of the College of Home Economics.”

At present, 40 units of exercise equipment are being set up in various locations in UP Diliman to encourage students, faculty, and staff to be active and stay fit. Among these equipment, 13 units are now installed at the Department of Military Science and Tactics Complex and the College of Science Complex. These units are arm push-up, elliptical machine, single seesaw, and double seesaw.
