Sarah Geronimo Wins Best Southeast Asia Act at MTV

Sarah Geronimo is clearly the best. Need proof? She recently just won Best Southeast Asia act at the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA), one of the biggest events in music. Sarah beat Agnes Mo and Noah from Indonesia, Yuna from Malaysia, Stefanie Sun from Singapore, Slot Machine from Thailand, and Hồ Ngọc Hà from Vietnam.

According to Paras Sharma, vice president of MTV Brand and Digital Media, Viacom International Media Networks Asia, “From her nominations at the MTV EMA last year to this year’s Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, we knew she was a fast rising Asian star. We will continue to elevate Asian artists at international platforms, grow the awareness and appreciation of Asian music and artists for fans around the world to enjoy.”

Because of her win, Sarah now stands a chance to win the Best Worldwide Act award, where she will compete against other regional winners. The winner of Best Worldwide Act will be announced in the 2014 MTV, which will be held in Glasgow, Scotland. The awarding will be aired on all MTV channels around the world, including the Philippines on November 9, 9 p.m. and Monday, November 10, 4 p.m., Manila time.

You can vote for Sarah until October 29, 5:59PM, by going to the MTV website and clicking on the Best Worldwide Act category.

This year’s EMAs will be hosted by “Anaconda” rapper Nicki Minaj. Calvin Harris, Charli XCX, Kiesza, Royal Blood, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran and Minaj will perform at the awards show.
