Awesome can’t begin to describe Sarah Geronimo’ s first decade in showbiz. The 25-year-old Popstar Princess has done it all, churning out platinum albums, starring in blockbuster films, performing in SRO concerts, guesting and hosting top rating TV shows.
And the acclaim keeps coming. At the recent 5th Star Awards for Music, Sarah Geronimo was named Female Recording Artist of the Year. And she has been nominated in the Best Southeast Asia Act category at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA). Sarah Geronimo will be vying against Malaysia’s Hafiz, Vietnam’s My Tam, Indonesia’s NOAH, Singapore’s Olivia Ong, and Thailand’s Slot Machine.
To celebrate her decade of a fairy-tale journey to superstardom, Sarah Geronimo will stage Perfect 10, an unprecedented two concerts in November. Perfect 10 was supposed to be a one-night concert at the Araneta Coliseum on November 15. But it seems that Sarah Geronimo’s fans just can’t get enough of her.
Tickets for November 15 show was already sold out as early as August, reports Vic del Rosario, big boss of the Viva Group of Companies and Sarah Geronimo’s long-time mentor. “So we decided to hold a second concert. We can’t disappoint Sarah’s legions of fans”, Boss Vic says.
The second show will be at the Mall of Asia Arena on November 30. “The venue is closer to Sarah’s fans in the Southern part of Metro Manila,” Boss Vic explains. After finishing her stint as judge in The Voice of the Philippines, Sarah will be fully focused on preparations for Perfect 10. Boss Vic says Sarah Geronimo is completely immersed in the concert, choosing the songs she will perform, the costumes she will wear even the stage design. It’s hard to imagine that it was a decade ago when a little girl with a big heart and a remarkable voice got her shot of fame after winning the popular talent show, Star For A Night.
Today that young girl has blossomed into one of the country’s most versatile and highly successful artists. Sarah has become not only a recording star; she is also a multi-awarded movie and TV actress. Sarah envisions Perfect 10 to be the mother of all concerts, bigger than her most successful concert to date, 24/SG. After her Manila shows Sarah will conquer Cebu City on December 7 at the Waterfront Hotel, Lahug Cebu City.
