Robin Williams Passes Away: Remembering Robin

Robin Williams Passes Away: Remembering Robin

I woke up today in a world with one funny person less.

Robin Williams, you amused the world with all your crazy antics, your tidbits of knowledge, and your powerful performances. Now, you astounded the world with your demise.

According to news reports, Robin Williams died due to asphyxiation from an alleged suicide since he was reportedly battling massive depression.

I think my first clear memory of his performance was in Dead Poets Society. I know it wasn’t a comedy and I was too young when it first came out, but I watched this film in different epochs of my life and it taught me a lot.

“Carpe Diem. Seize the day. Because, believe it or not, each and everyone of us in this room is one day going to stop breathing, turn cold, and die.”

“I climbed on the desk to remind myself that we must always look at things from different angles. And the world looks different from up here.”

I bet you have a better view of the world now.

How can you be so depressed? It seemed like the whole planet loved you and you’ve been part of most of our childhoods if not our life. I know you have your reasons and whatever it is, I hope you’re in a better place now.

I woke up today in a world with one funny person less, and with all the crisis in the world, you’re one person the world needs most.

You will be missed. Long live the Fisher King!
