Remix ’13: The Aftermath of Love and Hard Work

When In Manila, young and promising dance crews await the spotlight that will allow them to showcase their love and hardwork for dance. On the night of December 2nd and the lighting of DLSU’s giant Christmas tree, both up-and-coming and established Lasallian collegiate dance crews went head-to-head – all in the name of working without disdain and serving with passion.

This Christmas season, Remix ’13: Labor of Love, the annual inter-Lasallian dance competition, featured two categories: the Rookie category and the All-Stars category. The former category starred six teams, while the latter showcased four. With the theme revolving around love and hard work, Remix ’13 presented itself as the perfect avenue for young dance crews to show what they’ve got.

The panel of judges for Remix ’13 was bannered by Mycs Villoso, JJ San Juan, Madelle Paltuob, Danny Marshall, and Ace Libumfacil. The show kickstarted with a joint performance by representatives from all the teams.

After all the introductions, it was time for the main event, which was started by the performance of the Visual Kings of the Rookies category. They were followed by Frixion’s modern-inspired number, The Fam’s athletic routine, Skittlez All-Stars’ scout-inspired piece, the all-girls Team Elite 2.0’s sassy number and lastly, Team Elite Varsity’s militaristic drill. Remix ’13’s stage heated up fast with the Rookie squads, but it intensified even more with the coming of the All-Stars teams!

After the Remix ’13 organizers’ LSDC-Street and LSDC-Contemporary’s collaborated piece, ComOne Ground was up first to show their savage performance to begin the All-Stars line-up. Skittlez, the Remix defending champs, followed with another cut-throat routine. They were then succeeded by the powerful Team Elite All-Stars and Z-Ave’s police-inspired rendition.

Remix ’13 was definitely dominated by the Team Elite crew from De La Salle- College of St. Benilde! I’m sure the rest of the teams will come back stronger for Remix ’14!

On a side note, this nicely-designed shirt was presented and its proceeds will be donated to the victims of the recent typhoon.
What’s the catch with this shirt? Well, it glows in the dark! Awesome right?! For a price of P260, you get to own a glow-in-the-dark shirt and contribute for a good cause too. 🙂
