PWR Renaissance 2018

It’s time to wage war once again as Philippine Wrestling Revolution (PWR) returns to the Power Mac Center Spotlight in Circuit Makati for PWR Renaissance 2018. Happening on Sunday, August 26 at 2 PM, the fifth edition of one of PWR’s major events will feature a can’t-miss double main event. What’s more – all of PWR’s championships will be put on the line! Here are some of the matches you can look forward to on the big day.

MAIN EVENT #1:

PWR CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Ralph Imabayashi (c) (w/ Rederick Mahaba) vs. Main Maxx (w/ Mr. Sy)

After yet another successful title defense—with the most recent one being against Shizuoka, Japan’s Koto Hiro—Ralph Imabayashi moves on to defend the PWR Championship against his biggest, most-challenging opponent yet. Main Maxx is the longest-reigning Philippine Excellence Champion in PWR history. He’s also never been defeated by Imabayashi. But after suffering a career-threatening ACL tear injury in March 2017, Main Maxx had to sit on the sidelines, forgoing his wrestling dreams for a whole year.

Since returning last March at Path of Gold, Maxx has signed with talent agent Mr. Sy, who has led him to a sweep of the PWR Championship #1 Contender’s Tournament, culminating in a victory over two-time Kampeon ng Pilipinas Jake De Leon in the finals at PWR Live: Way of the Champion. At PWR Renaissance, Main Maxx gets his own shot at becoming Kampeon ng Pilipinas, but not if Ralph Imabayashi can stop the fiery momentum going on for Maxx.

MAIN EVENT #2:

PHX CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Ken Warren (c) vs. Jake De Leon

For the first time in two years, Ken Warren and Jake De Leon—two of Philippine Wrestling Revolution’s originals—go head to head in singles competition for the Philippine Excellence Championship. Quite literally, these two wrestlers have been one-upping each other since day one. After all, the first-ever wrestling match that the two had starred in four long years ago was against each other. Ken Warren and Jake De Leon are two-time titleholders of the PHX Championship and the PWR Championship, respectively, and have each won the grueling Path of Gold tournament. It’s a seemingly even-sided bout, with this caveat: Jake De Leon remains undefeated in singles competition against Ken Warren.

PWR TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: John Sebastian & Crystal (c) vs. The Naughty Boys (Evan Carleaux and Trian Dela Torre)

The Naughty Boys of PWR, Evan Carleaux and Trian Dela Torre, were able to secure their #1 contendership for the PWR Tag Team Championships after defeating the only tag team in PWR that they had yet to defeat: The YOLO Twins. With momentum on their side, the leaders of the Naughty Boys/Trianverse head into PWR Renaissance to take on The Wrestling Lord and Savior, John Sebastian, and the Queen of Philippine Wrestling, Crystal. Only this time, it’s for more than the prestigious PWR Tag Team Championships. This title match will be personal for Evan Carleaux and Trian Dela Torre, who are out to avenge the assault on Officer Tutan, GrabCamus, and Jhemerlhynn at the hands of the tag champions at July’s PWR Live: Way of the Champion. It will not be an easy task for Carleaux and Dela Torre, as they will need more than the power of friendship to defeat wrestling royalty.

ALL OUT WAR CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Alexander Belmonte III defends his title

When Alexander Belmonte III won the All Out War Championship at last May’s Wrevolution X, it was against five other warriors in a 6-Man All Out War Match — the biggest and most brutal in Philippine professional wrestling history. An emphatic win earned AB3 the title of The Warlord. And at PWR Renaissance 2018, The Warlord steps into battle once again to defend his title against a most-worthy opponent—or will it be opponents?
