President Aquino Declared December 8 a Non-Working Holiday in 5 Areas

The government declared December 8 a non-working holiday in five areas to commemorate their foundation day, respectively.

The five (5) areas are the following:

1. Taguig City – 10th Foundation Day

2. Antipolo City – 424th Foundation Day

3. Batangas province – 434th Foundation Day

4. Agoo, La Union province – 437th Foundation Day

5. Batac, Ilocos Norte – 438th Foundation Day

According to the Official Gazette’s website, the 5 proclamations (1171 to 1175)  were signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. with the authority of His Excellency, BENIGNO S. AQUINO III.

It was also mentioned in an article shared by Philippine Star, that extra holiday is to “give the people full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.”

Basically, a special non-working holiday means “no work, no pay.” However, should you choose to go to work, you will then get your “daily rate” times 1.3.
