The Philippine National Police (PNP) is deploying about one thousand policemen for the Miss Universe pageant, according to local news.
At least one officer will be assigned to every Miss Universe contestant. There are about 87 confirmed candidates in the international pageant, with organizers waiting on the confirmation of 5 more.
This seems to be all precaution, as no security threat has been recorded so far.
Candidates will pay a courtesy call to President Rodrigo Duterte on January 23.
Coronation night will take place at the Mall of Asia Arena, January 30, 2017 (Monday).
