Pinoy Otaku Encore 2014 Launched Otaku Choice Awards and Fantasm Preview
Naruto Cosplayers PH (NCPH), one of the biggest cosplay and Japanese-culture for a cause organization in the Philippines successfully held Pinoy Otaku Encore 2014 at Starland Themepark, Starmall Alavang. Pinoy Otaku Encore is also a pre-event to Pinoy Otaku Festival: FANTASM happening on May 24-25 at the same venue.
About 30 cosplayers competed in the last leg of Cosplay Idol Season 2. Each cosplayer was given 3 minutes to their cosplay skit and talent performance. Judges for the competition includes Dee Jocson, professional events photographer; Haruhi Misaki, President of NCPH Metro South; Jeffrey Velazquez, Heroes Are US PH and HeroCon organizer; Christian Mack, Cosplay and Anime Café – www.arkadymac.com; and Alvin Reyes, Cherry Credits. It was a great show as each cosplayer came prepared for the competition and targeted the top spot of Cosplay Idol as well as the other categories.
Lie Pagtalunan, NCPH President also announce the launching of Otaku Choice Awards 2014. This award is the first ever community based award in cosplay conventions which aims to ask the public for nominations and then ask them to vote on a list based from that nominations. The nomination period will be from February 22 – March 21, 2014 while the voting period will be from April 1 – May 12, 2014.

The event also served as the second round of eliminations for Asia Music Festival: Karaoke Competition. Judges for the competition are Carlo Pablo, iCozplay Events Management; Christian Mack, Cosplay and Anime Café; Eleazar Santos, President NCPH Bulacan; and Mhien Adavan, Lead vocalist of Ikuzo Iwa Band.
Winner for the competitions are as follows:
- COSPLAY IDOL (to join the finals at Fantasm this May): Ian Quinto as Fujiko Mine from Lupin III
- CATEGORY WINNERS (except for Dragon Nest, winners will join the Cosplay Idol Wildcard at Coamic Con on May 10)
– Best Child: Natalia Chanelle Calilung as Sasha Braus from SNK
– Best Female: Stephanie May Fausto as Yuruichi Shihoin from Bleach
– Best Male: Megumi Otaku Goddess as Inori Yuzurika (Crossdress) from Guilty Crown
– Best Mecha/Armor: Carl Lucas as Gosei Knight from Goseiger
– Best Dragon Nest: Ianah Otaku as Academic

To spies up the event last year’s Otaku Choice Awardee for Best Online Game, Dragon Nest was present and gave out freebies for new game registrant’s. Cherry Credits is also introducing their game Avatar Star. Angelica Feliciano, ABS-CBN Star Magic member rendered a song number while Raindrop and V’s Project: Artifys performed a dance number.
Ever Billena gave out free Pink Water and Black Water body spray as well as other items for prizes during the event. They are one of the events major partners together with Cherry Credits. Great Toys Online also shared cool toy prizes for the winners. Other exhibitors on the event are Vanilla Eyes, Big J Burgers, Nibisu Project, and Glue and Stitch.
