The year 2013 was the year when The Women of Aleitheia started the Phoenix Cup. The sorority wanted to take a break from the usual late night parties by adding a football (soccer) competition, wherein it invites different groups, whether from law school or not, to form teams and participate in playing the sport that most Filipinos had come to love. The champion wins the Phoenix Cup on top of getting that exercise most of us forget to do because of our hectic schedules. This event is usually held in a sports arena, field, or complex somewhere in the Metro. With this year’s Phoenix Cup, we plan on inviting more teams due to popular demand.

The Phoenix Cup is a football tournament which brings together the best football teams around the Metro to celebrate friendship, camaraderie, and good old-fashioned sportsmanship. The tournament allows the sorority to raise funds for the benefit of its bar candidates in the upcoming 2014 Bar Operations this October.

Various teams from different law schools, colleges, universities, corporations, football clubs and villages will participate in both Men’s and Women’s divisions of the tournament. Plaques and medals will be awarded to the winning teams.

The event is opened to the public – teams composed of law students, alumni, colleagues, friends and family and family members. While attendees are estimated to be at least 200, the event’s exposure reaches more.
