Pet Owners Flock Eastwood City for its Annual Pet Blessing

 

True to its commitment of being a pet-friendly  destination, Eastwood City, in partnership with CARA (Compassion and Responsibility for Animals) and the Philippine Animal Rescue Team hosted the Annual Pet Blessing ceremony last Sunday, Oct 5 2014. It was a huge success as a large crowd of  animal lovers and pets flocked Eastwood Gardens that afternoon. The registration was free of charge and pet owners just needed to bring their pet’s original vaccination papers to secure a pet pass and register for the blessing.

A mass and blessing was presided over by Franciscan priests as Eastwood City commemorated the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi then immediately followed by a program  with a talk by  their special guest, “The Pinoy Dog Whisperer” Lestre Zapanta. Zapanta is known for his talent in reading canine body signals and behavior to help modify bad behavior and lead to happier homes. Guests eagerly listened to his talk and live demonstration. It was super interesting and I can’t wait to apply what I learned from him that afternoon.

 

 

Another highlight of the show were the special awards  given out to pet owners who made an effort to come early and came with their cute costumes. 

 There was also a Pet Fair where owners got the chance to shop for  pet supplies and goodies from Dogs and the City, Whole Pet Kitchen, Glampets PH, Arfarf Love, GIGA Pets and more. CARA and the Philippine Animal Rescue Team also had a special booth for those who wanted to adopt a pet.

 

 

Now on its 10th year, Eastwood City’s Annual Pet Blessing is among the most highly-anticipated pet events of the year. Since 2004, thousands of pet owners from different parts of Metro Manila including celebrities and notable personalities flock to this annual celebration every year, taking advantage of the opportunity to have their pets blessed by a Catholic priest and become a part of their Christian life.

So when in Manila and if you own a pet, we highly recommend you attend Eastwood City’s Annual Pet Blessing! I really wish I brought my cat Jessica that day. Next year, I promise to bring her so I can have her blessed as well and so she can interact with fellow furry friends.
