Pandanan Luisiana, a thesis of De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde – School of Design & Arts students, partnered with WhenInManila.com to foster and promote the Pandan weaving handicraft industry of the Municipality of Luisiana, Laguna.

Pandanan Luisiana project is here to promote the Pandan Weaving industry of the Municipality of Luisiana, Laguna. The research has shown that Luisiana, Laguna has increased popularity with its Hulugan Falls. This would be a perfect timing to promote the Municipality specifically its Pandan Weaving Handicraft Industry.

Pandanan Luisiana holds it website launch event on the 28th of January. It is also holding its crowdfunding online event on its site to fund the production of its coffee table books. Luisiana, Laguna is a municipality that struggles to have a steady tourism growth. The people of Luisiana are known to be hospitable and warm; they greet you in the warmest way as possible. They have a calm way of speaking particularly evident in the provinces of Laguna. The Municipality has been practicing the art of pandan weaving for more than a decade. They have evolved from retail store suppliers to becoming online entrepreneurs themselves thru the use of social media networks such as Facebook and Instagram.

The Pandan Weavers are decreasing in numbers for most of them are from the oldest generation of weavers. The youth are now residing in cities such as Manila to hope for a brighter future. There are few girls who are being introduced to Pandan weaving and the practice of boys harvesting for the Pandan leaves are also affected. As part of our year long research the sustainability and growth of a place or province go hand in hand with a variety of factors such as tourism, SMEs, and more.

The primary goal of PandananLuisiana is to promote the Pandan Weaving Handicraft Industry of the Municipality of Luisiana, Laguna and boost its tourism. The PandananLuisiana features a variety of products made out of Pandan and video features showcasing the treasures of Luisiana, process of Pandan weaving, the life of Pandan Weavers, and Products made of Pandan. The website also features a donation page to fund the projects of Pandanan and to further promote the PandananLuisiana brand. This project is conceptualized and managed by Rigel Kent L. Marco and Consuelo Zelda F. Zablan of De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde – School of Design and Arts with the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Arts.
