Oktoberfest at Brotzeit Philippines: Cheers to German Cuisine and Beers!

Oktoberfest at Brotzeit Philippines: Cheers to German Cuisine and Beers!

It’s October once again.. and for drinkers, I’m pretty sure you know what it means! It’s that season to get drunk again! For those who can’t relate, no, I’m not talking about Christmas nor Halloween… I’m talking about Oktoberfest!

Brotzeit

If you and your friends are looking for a place to celebrate and be merry on this month of October, I suggest you go to Brotzeit located at Shangri-la Plaza Mall.

Brotzeit has also participated in Drink Up Philippines. Read more about Drink Up Philippines in here: Drink Up: Beat the Summer Heat at the Country’s Ultimate Drinking Festival

Brotzeit

It was my first time to celebrate such festivity so I really don’t know what to expect. But after the Brotzeit’s kick off event last Saturday, I’d like to say I’m impressed! Let me tell you why…

Number 1: They got boys and girls in costumes

Well… sorta. They are called lederhosen and dirndl (ha! I’ve googled it!). They are traditional clothing Germany. Not only kuya and ate serves our delicious beer and yummy Bavarian food to the table, they also serve it to us in style.

Number 2: They’ve got pints and pints and pints and pints of Paulaner.

Everybody wants the taste of a good beer. And Paulaner it is!

Quick fact: Paulaner is one of the six breweries that is allowed to produce oktoberfestbier in accordance to Reinheitsgebot, the Bavarian beer purity regulation.

Brotzeit

For draft lovers, good news: They serve Paulaner on tap!

Brotzeit

For the ladies and gents who wants the sweeter beer, they got flavoured beer at your disposal. I got one which is called Affensaft, a Weissbier with mango juice. Wow. I’ve tasted caramel beer before and I’m so glad to discover that beer pairs with mango juice well.

I also got to taste Bayrischer Longdrink, an original Munchner Lager with vodka and lime.

Brotzeit

Number 3: They got the FOOD

Sorry for typing that in uppercase but it needs emphasis. THE FOOD. I had a mini heart attack eating their Oktoberfest Platter, or so I called the Bye-Diet-It-Was-Worth-It Platter.

Brotzeit

It is only available for a limited time so wag na magpatumpik-tumpik pa. It’s the best combination with beer! Although, when you buy it bring about 6-8 friends with you. You do not, I repeat, do not and cannot eat this alone. Take advice from me, who may or may have not tried devouring this feast alone. Haha.

Brotzeit

The feast consists of a pork knuckle, German garlic sausages, smoked bacon, honey bavarian pork ribs, breaded chicken and fish fillets. The pork knuckle is boiled and not fried… so… let it go and eat a little more. >:)

Number 4: They got sweets

Aside from their beers and Bavarian food, they also served us sweets! The newest creation of Brotzeit’s chef, Chef Ian, are these cookie shots. Two of them are fruity, one is blueberry and the other is raspberry, with a lemon crust as the base cup. The other two, which I’m absolutely a fan of, have a hard chocolate cookie as a base and topped with cream cheese and chocolate ice cream.

Brotzeit

Number 5: They got games

They call it The Guzzler and The Server.

Brotzeit

Basic rules for The Guzzler: Create a team with 4 members, fall in line, the first person in line chugs down the beer, the next person does the same after he finishes.. and the next till the fourth one is done.  The fastest team wins.

And oh, additional rules. Don’t drink and drive. Brotzeit has partnered with Uber* so all those who wanted to enjoy Oktoberfest won’t have to worry about driving and going back home.

Brotzeit

Rules for The Server is simple: Carry the enormous mugs filled with beer and hope that you’ve got enough upper body strength to carry it. Last man standing gets the bragging rights.

Brotzeit

Brotzeit

There! That sums up my first Oktoberfest experience. Brotzeit, thank you for the celebrations. I’ll be back soon! Prost (it means cheers in German)!
