Ikaw Ang Buhay Ko is my declaration that indeed my wife is my life,” Ogie Alcasid said as the award-winning songwriter-singer announced the release of “Ikaw ang Buhay Ko,” his new album after four years under Universal Records.

As one of OPM’s most celebrated and respected artists, Ogie returns with a new single “Ikaw Ang Buhay Ko” in which he recalls, “I actually sang it live first in my show on TV5 called ‘The Mega and The Songwriter’ because there is a portion in the show known for such popular love songs where letter senders get to request a brand new song. I just changed a few lyrics and dedicated it to my wife.”

The new album features ten love songs including five new original compositions by Ogie taking inspirations from his wife, the Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez.  “I wrote five songs in the album and all of which were inspired by my wife as we celebrated our 5th Anniversary.”

The other five songs in the album, however, returns to the very famous Filipino wedding songs delivering Ogie’s version in a variety of dynamic ways including remakes of “Hawak Kamay,” “Hanggang,” “Tanging Yaman,” “Iingatan Ka,” and “Pag-Ibig.”

Ikaw ang Buhay Ko” is Ogie’s first album in four years which he recorded most of the songs in his studio called Walker Studios. Ogie—known for ballad classics such as ‘Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang,’ ‘Kung Mawawala Ka,’ ‘Mahal Kita, Walang Iba,’ ‘Ikaw Sana,’ ‘Hanggang Ngayon,’ ‘Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga,’ and ‘Pangako’—last released his gold record album “The Songwriter & The Hitmakers” in 2012.

Every song on the album is a positive expression of love that anyone who feels love or has felt love surely relate to as Ogie shared, “There is no room for pain in this album—all joy and bliss.”
