When In Manila, I believe that we Filipinos celebrate the most fun Christmas season. We start as early as the “-ber” months hit the calendar! Nothing beats celebrating Christmas in our own homes and sharing a hefty meal and gift-giving with our loved ones. But how about having a new Christmas experience someplace new this December, Ocean Park Hong Kong might be the perfect Christmas destination for you and your family!

I was lucky to be at the Ocean Park Hong Kong’s launch of their Christmas Sensation Santa Festival here in Manila. It was graced by the presence of Ocean Park’s Chief Executive, Mr. Tom Mehrmann and Executive Director of Sales and Marketing, Mr. Paul Pei.

Before the event started, we were invited to an open interview with the big bosses so we can ask more about what’s new with Ocean Park Hong Kong this Christmas season and developments in the future. We were given an insight of the their new and upcoming attractions for the Christmas Sensation Santa Festival in celebration of their 35th year. Honestly, I got pretty excited just hearing about it! I’ve been to Ocean Park Hong Kong early this year and really enjoyed my visit (especially the Pandas)! I am slightly regretting why I didn’t coincide my vacation in time for the Christmas season. Boohoo me!

“For 35 years, Ocean Park Hong Kong has dedicated itself to creating memories that last a lifetime. We’re delighted to wrap up our 35th year anniversary celebration this December with Christmas Sensation – Santa Festival, one of this year’s hallmarks of our world-class theme park experience,” said Tom Mehrmann, Chief Executive of Ocean Park. “The Philippines represents an important market and we warmly invite everyone to come to Hong Kong and spend the holiday season with us at Ocean Park.”

“At this year’s Christmas Sensation Santa Festival, you will be immersed in the spirit of Christmas at over 80 attractions. It will be Christmas with a blast at Polar Adventure, a nostalgic Christmas journey through time at Old Hong Kong, and fruitful epiphanies about biodiversity at all the state-of-the-art animal exhibits. Throughout the winter holidays, visitors can enjoy musical performances under a giant 40-foot Christmas tree and enjoy hi-tech, interactive games at the Rise of the Guardian (DreamWorks’ holiday blockbuster) walkthrough. Authentic Santa’s from Finland, Holland, and the United States will also spread cheer and take photos with all guests. Don’t forget to also check out the many delectable international Christmas treats, as well as one of a kind seasonal souvenirs all around the Park!”

I know, I know. Don’t we all wish that we’re in Ocean Park Hong Kong right now?!? *wishful thinking*

Andi and Rovilson guided the audience through Ocean Park’s attraction with the aid of a presentation and a “Where is Santa?” skit.

Here are some of the must-experience attractions at Ocean Park Hong Kong this Christmas season:

Polar Adventure, the Park’s latest attraction, bringing the North and South Poles to Asia with exciting bobsled rides and close encounters with King, Gentoo, and Rock Hopper Penguins, Snowy Owls, long-tusked Pacific walruses and other Arctic animals. Visitors can chill at the Tuxedos Restaurant, which offers a low carbon menu and a wide view of penguins frolicking in their snow covered habitat.

Hong Kong Jockey Club Sichuan Treasures features two female golden monkeys, Le Le and Hu Hu. They are the new neighbors of Giant pandas An An and Jia Jia. Jia Jia is today the oldest Giant panda under human care in the world. Come visit these animal ambassadors with your families and be inspired by their important messages of conservation.

Thrill Mountain lives up to its name with extreme attractions such as Hair Raiser, a floorless roller coaster; The Flash, where visitors actually hang upside down while swinging on its pendulum arm; The Aviator, which lets guests enjoy a taste of flight; and the classic carnival thrill ride Bumper Blasters, a traditional bumper car ride for families of all ages.

Aqua City features a breakthrough underwater experience, “Symbio!”, a multi-sensory show, presents the world’s first 360-degree water screen with dynamic projections. The Grand Aquarium overwhelms viewers with 5,000 fish from over 400 species and other aquatic wonders, seen through a large acrylic dome (at a diameter of 5.5 meters), and an enormous 8×13-meter viewing panel.

He then revealed the partnership between Ocean Park Hong Kong and Enchanted Kingdom and we witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between Ocean Park Corporation and Enchanted Kingdom Inc.
