The family took a breather and hied off to a lake-mountain resort together with new-found pals for two full days of R & R. A two-and-a-half hour drive from Alabang took us to Mountain Lake Resort at Caliraya Springs (formerly Caliraya Springs Golf and Country Club). Rising 1,000 feet above sea level and nestled atop mountains of Brgy. Cavinti in Laguna province, the resort is very deserving of its name.
We found ourselves commune with nature, inspired by the beautiful views of Mt. Banahaw, a 360-degree view of Laguna de Bay and its neighboring towns on one side, the mountain and forests in another, whilst thrilled with varieties of fun-filled activities awaits for us.
We enjoyed the bike ride over, despite the cool breeze slightly burning our faces. Strolling around gave us a more exciting view of the lake and the magnificent, varying landscapes.
This our favorite – the banana boat. It’s a big, yellow inflatable you can ride as a group. It’s quite an experience! You have to try it yourself for you to know what I mean. But I hope this picture emulates the ecstasy we felt during the banana boat ride.
Kayaking, on the other hand, is both fun and challenging. This experience is suitable for all abilities and ages. You will be able to explore the Caliraya Lake whilst learning to master the skill of paddling and coordination on water. Here’s the golden rule to paddle the most efficiently, comfortably, and safely: you need to let your upper and lower bodies work cooperatively, but independently from each other.
The resort also offers fishing activity at Dory Fish Village. This includes the satisfaction of sharing your own catch for supper, coupled with the feeling of serenity from being close to nature.
Now, if you’re feeling quite adventurous, try their new zipline. Enjoy the panoramic view of the lake and even have fun while crossing the hanging bridge.
There’s no better way to see the best of what Lake Caliraya has to offer, while learning about its history and geology, than stepping aboard their pasyal boat tours.
You can even give the ducks an occasional treat.
Or enjoy unique golf experience. Playing on the course for the first time can be intimidating, but the most important thing you have to remember is to just enjoy.
And, after an ultra-productive day, nothing beats warm conversations in front of a bonfire over cold beers and grilled hotdogs to cap off the night.
At Mountain Lake Resort at Caliraya Springs, we certainly got our fill of cherished memories. The resort is a must-see place which cannot be fully justified in a feature article.
