“My Friend Dahmer” is a Chilling Movie About a Real-Life Serial Killer

My Friend Dahmer

True crime fans know Jeffrey Dahmer, one of the most notorious serial killers in history. Now, a new film will look into his life and will be based on the graphic novel My Friend Dahmer by Derf Backderf.

Check out the chilling trailer for the upcoming film below:

My Friend Dahmer was published in 2012, and focuses on the serial killer’s teenage years. It is told through the eyes of his high school friend, who, as the graphic novel says, saw “how, and more important, why Jeffrey Dahmer transformed from a high school nerd into a depraved fiend as notorious as Jack the Ripper.”

Ross Lynch will play Dahmer and he will be joined by Vincent Kartheiser as Dahmer’s doctor, Anne Heche as Dahmer’s mother, and Alex Wolff as Derf.

Dahmer raped, murdered, and dismembered 17 boys and men from 1978 to 1991. In 1992, he was convicted of 15 murders, earning him 15 terms of life imprisonment. In 1994, he was beaten to death by a fellow inmate.

Several movies, books, and TV shows have studied his crimes. His name has also been mentioned in some songs, including Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse,” Kesha’s “Cannibal,” Lil Wayne’s “Eat You Alive,” Eminem’s “Things Get Worse,” and many more.

My Friend Dahmer is expected to hit theaters this year.
