Are you ever torn between having a fun night out with your friends and chilling at home with acoustic music and some Netflix? Fortunately for us extroverted-introverts (ambiverts?), Cable Car in BGC is the perfect blend of homey and litty—a perfect hangout spot for nights (and days!) when you or your barkada just feel like grabbing some drinks and comfort food in a home away from home.
First opened in 2014, the BGC Cable Car branch has an old-school yet hipster ambiance to it; think warm lights, wooden tables, and leather couches. Don’t be fooled though—this classy joint is a regular spot for people of all ages, perhaps because of its delicious food, live music, quirky drinks, and beer pong table (!!) right at the front of the restobar. It also helps that both the food and the interior of Cable Car can look good on anyone’s Instagram feed.

Cable Car offers a wide range of food and drinks. Among their bestselling dishes are the Sizzling Sisig and the famed Heartbreaker Pizza. Being an iconic Filipino dish, it’s no surprise that many of us count sisig as a definite comfort dish. Cable Car took the classic route with its simple yet tasty sisig, capturing the softness and crunchiness that each bite should have.

Perfect for a barkada of three to four, the Heartbreaker Pizza is a meat-lover’s dream come true! Only a heartbreaker in the literal sense, this pizza won’t let you down like your past jowas. Laden with sumptuous meat and ooey-gooey cheese, the Heartbreaker kept getting me to reach out for yet another slice.

Out of all their enticing dishes, the Cable Car Wings was my absolute favorite one! Served on a sizzling plate that is set on fire (I am not kidding!) right in front of your eyes, these wings have a unique crunch and tangy-sweet taste to them. Although this (literally) breathtaking dish is considered as one of their starters, we found that it can also suffice as an accompaniment to other main course dishes or rice bowls.

Aside from its food, Cable Car also holds live entertainment from musicians in the local scene. This gave the whole restobar a more laid-back feel, and made the space feel comforting and intimate. We were in Cable Car on one of their weekly Acoustic Thursdays, during which all branches feature local acoustic performers for the night.

Just when you think that Cable Car can’t get any better, it is also open from 6AM all the way until 5AM! Whether you want a casual drink with friends or even a robust breakfast to start your day, Cable Car is open and ready to provide you with comfort and a taste of home 23/7.
