If there’s one dessert that perfectly represents Paris, it’s definitely the French macaron. Fortunately, you don’t have to go all the way to Paris just to have a taste of this delicate and airy pastry. Mrs. Grahams Macaron Cafe is one of the go-to places when it comes to treating yourself to a Parisian dessert. Tucked in a street in Tomas Morato, you’re sure to notice the cute entree of the cafe right away.
What sets this cafe apart are their unique and intriguing flavors, giving each macaron a local taste.
Every now and then, Mrs. Grahams release new flavors and their latest flavors are Devil’s Foodcake, Four Cheese, Reese’s Macaronut and Pork Floss, their collaboration with Chef Sharwin Tee (more on that later).
The Devil’s Foodcake is for chocolate lovers. It has a chocolatey and moist filling which clearly resembles a cake and is much more than your ordinary chocolate macaron. For those who love cheese, the Four Cheese is for you. This has got to be the cheesiest macaron ever as it has bleu cheese, gouda, parmesan and cream cheese in it. Clearly, the four cheese flavor is not just for pizzas and burgers; it’s now welcome in the dessert family, as well.
I think you’ve all heard of cronuts, cruffins, cronaps and crupcakes. What do they all have in common? They are all food hybrids of croissants. Well, it’s not too late for a new food hybrid to love. Say hello to the macaronut. Personally, this is my first time hearing and tasting it. Two of my favorite desserts in one? Please take all my money!
Luckily, I was able to try Mrs. Graham’s Reese’s Macaronut and all I can say is ‘why didn’t I know about this sooner?’ The bottom part is meringue and the top part is the donut. I was hesitant at first because I thought the softness of the dough would taste odd with the meringue cookie, but the texture and flavors all blended well together.
The last one on their latest release has got to be the star of the show. Hearing the flavor name itself was already intriguing for me, so I definitely had to give it a try. I mean, Pork Floss Macaron? That’s something you don’t usually see on a dessert menu. It has pork floss, cream cheese and peanut butter in it, which is an odd combination but tastes oh-so-good. I was completely surprised after having a bite of this delicate treat. It has the perfect balance of sweet and savory to it. The flavors are exceptional and it’s definitely not something that you’ll expect at all. (Definitely a must-try for all French macaron lovers!)
