 MMDA Releases Road Closures and Alternate Routes For EDSA Anniversary

 

Tomorrow, the Philippines will be celebrating the 29th year of the EDSA People Power Revolution, a pivotal event in the country’s history when then president Ferdinand Marcos was ousted after 21 years of dictatorship and Cory Aquino took on the role of president. As fate would have it, her son is now the president of the country.

The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced a list of roads that will be closed along EDSA tomorrow, the highway where the 1986 revolution was held. To guide motorists, 1,104 personnel will be present to guide motorists in alternate routes.

Below is the list of roads that will be closed for the event:

 

Shaw Boulevard to Santolan and all perpendicular roads from east side

  • Internal Avenue
  • Garden Way
  • Julia Vargas
  • Bank Drive
  • Guadix
  • Poveda
  • Ortigas Avenue
  • Corinthian Subdivision Gate 2
  • White Plains
  • Santolan

Ortigas Avenue

  • Meralco-Ortigas junction (southbound)
  • Ortigas Avenue-Connecticut (northbound)

White Plains, Quezon City

  • White Plains-Katipunan (southbound)

 

Below is the list of alternate routes:

 

From EDSA northbound

  • Right to McKinley Road to C5 to destination
  • Right at Kalayaan Avenue to C5 to destination
  • Take Rockwell flyover, left turn to Estrella and utilize Estrella/Pantaleon Bridge which is now open to traffic
  • Right at J.P. Rizal to C5 to destination
  • Right at Pioneer St. to C5 to destination
  • Right at Shaw Boulevard to C5 to destination
  • Right at J. Vargas Avenue to C5 to destination

From EDSA southbound

  • Right to Santolan, left turn to Ortigas Avenue, right turn to Wilson, left at P. Guevarra and Shaw Boulevard, right turn to EDSA to point of destination
