“I saw the message from the Philippine Olympic Committee, I saw the message from the federation. They’re like, “Michael, you’re in!”

(…..) “I’m like, ‘no way’. So I like, rush in the rink and tell my coach like, ‘Flava, we’re in.” We were all super happy about it,”  Martinez tells ABS-CBN News.

The official governing body of Figure & Speed Skating in the Philippines, the Philippine Skating Union, also confirmed the news this morning.

“I’m very, very thankful for everybody, for the prayers and all the support they’ve given to me, especially my grandma, my family, my closest friends – they’re praying so hard for me to get in. And now, you know, I’m very thankful because now I’m in and they’re all super happy. I’m just super thankful for everything,” 21-year-old Martinez shares.

The Winter Olympics will be held at PyeongChang, South Korea next month. Congratulations Michael, and good luck!
